Nutty Nana Treats Recipe

Thanks for joining Dash and Mama in the kitchen on Instagram Live last week. We had a bunch of fun doing that and we can’t wait to do it again! We always try to give Dash natural treats but we wanted to monitor what was going in his body. This was the best way possible. Dash’s Dad used to make treats all of the time but then Mama found a way to simplify the entire process and she has taken it from there. These are Dash’s favorite treats. He can’t get enough of them and Mama loves baking them for him.

Ingredients:

– 1 Cup of Whole Wheat Flour
– 1/2 Cup of peanut butter
– 1/3 cup of rolled oats
– 1 very ripened banana
– 2 TBSP of honey
– 1 TSP coconut oil
– 1 Extra Large Egg or two

Start off by pre-heating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place your dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. You’ll want to be sure to reserve a quarter of a cup of flour and half of your oats. You will incorporate those later in case your mix is too wet.

Add your peanut butter and HALF of your very ripe banana. I find that the banana mixes better when already mashed. As always, I prefer to reserve part of the banana because the size of the banana can throw off the consistency of the mixture.

Add one extra large egg

I use my mixer with the dough hook attachment but you can mix by hand.

Mix in your honey and coconut oil

Add the rest of the Oats.

Now is a good time to evaluate the consistency. Use the reserved flour if needed. You don’t want it to be too wet because it will tale longer to bake evenly. At the same time, you don’t want a mixture that is too dry….it will crumble and burn.

At this point you can roll out your dough and use cookie cutters. Or try my preferred method.. I use silicone baking molds (from Amazon)

They’re so easy! Just press them in and it bake evenly. Then once they’re baked, they just pop out of the mold and on to the cooling rack. Clean up is a breeze because they’re also dishwasher safe! (No, this is not a sponsored post)

Which ever way you choose to bake them, I am sure your puppers will love em!

Put them in the oven right in the center rack for about 20 minutes (depending on your oven)

Once done, let them cool for at least 5 minutes . After that, let the taste testing begin!

Yes, I test out every batch I make… because if it’s not good enough to go in my tummy, then its not going in theirs.
